Enjoy our tours around the city; visit the Convent of Santa Catalina, the Colca Canyon, the countryside of Arequipa, the Chachani snow-covered mountain, the Cañahuas pampa, and the wedlands of Tocra. Visit the crater of the extinct volcano Chucura, the viewpoint to the volcano, the picturesque town of Coporaque, and its relaxing thermal and medicinal springs. The visit ends with a trip to the Colca Canyon and its spectacular condors.
At the appropriate time, you’ll be picked up from the airport and will meet with our agent who will explain the details of the tour hired and will provide you with the documents required for your trip. Ride to the hotel you selected. Spare time to rest and get used to the altitude of Arequipa or spend the night there.
Breakfast in the morning. At the agreed time, we will go downtown where we will start our journey. First we will visit one of the most impressive architectonic monuments of the city, the Santa Catalina Monastery, a miniature city where the nuns from Arequipa lived for over 400 years. Next we will go to the Main Square surrounded by majestic colonial arcs, and to the impressive Cathedral of Arequipa, where we will witness its amazing works of arts as well as its magnificent structure. We will finish our journey at the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries where we will see the remains of the mummy named “Juanita”, a girl from the Incan aristocracy who was found in the Ampato snow-covered mountainside. Return to hotel. Free night.
DAY 3: AREQUIPA – COLCA: CHIVAY AND COPORAQUE
Early in the morning, we will start our journey to Cañón del Colca (Colca Canyon), one of the deepest canyons of the world, where we will admire the majesty of the Chachani snow-covered mountain and pampa Cañahuas (National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas), home of the vicuñas. We will visit the wetlands of Tocra to see a wide variety of migratory birds like the flamencos. We will pass by the crater of a dormant volcano (Chucura). We will also go to Mirador de los Volcanes (Viewpoint of Volcanoes), located 4800 meters above sea level, the highest altitude so far, from where we will see most of the Mountain Range. Arrival at the hotel in Chivay at approximately 12 pm. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will continue our trip to the picturesque village of Coporaque, where we will walk for about 2 hours as we enjoy the nature and beautiful landscape of this side of the valley; we will also visit a pre-Incan cemetery located on the sides of a mountain. After our walk, we will enjoy the thermal springs in La Calera which medicinal waters’ temperature go from 35º C to 38º C. Ride to the hotel. Free night. We recommend that you go to bed early.

DAY 4: COLCA – AREQUIPA: CRUZ DEL CONDOR
Breakfast early in the morning. We will go to Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor from where we will see one of the deepest Canyons of the world; then we will visit the Sanctuary of the Condor, a place from where we will observe the spectacular flight of the Condor. On our way back, we will stop by the villages of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque which have beautiful colonial churches, and by the viewpoints of Antahuilque and Choquetico from where we can look at the graves, pre-Incan scale models, and the beautiful Colca landscape with its impressive platforms. Return to Arequipa late in the afternoon. Free night.
DAY 5: AREQUIPA: TRANSPORTATION UPON DEPARTURE
Breakfast in the morning. At the appropriate time, ride to the airport to take a flight back home.
